  46. I assume you mean why no telephone Tech Support on weekends.  We do not have
  47. the resources to provide technical support seven days a week and 24 hours a
  48. day.  We do provide telephone techs 8 am to 8 pm central time Mon - Thur, and
  49. 9 am - 6 pm on Friday.

  51. Here is the info on Win 95 and AVIs, as has been posted repeatedly on this
  52. board (meaning this info happens to be available seven days per week and
  53. twenty four hours per day):

  55. After you have installed Lightwave under Windows 95, you should
  56.  
  57. 1)  Go to the Settings option on the Windows "Start" menu,
  58. 2)  Select the Control Panel,
  59. 3)  Select Add/Remove Programs,
  60. 4)  Select Windows Setup,
  61. 5)  Select and remove the Multimedia group.
  62. 6)  Exit and restart Windows.
  63. 7)  Repeat 1-4 and re-add the multimedia group.
  64. 8)  Exit and restart Windows again.
  65. 9)  Delete the file NewTek\Programs\LW.CFG.
  66. 10) Run LightWave, add all Plugins from the NewTek\Plugins\Layout directory,
  67.     including HIIPAVI16.P, HIIPAVI32.P, and NT_AVI.P.
  68. 11) Exit and restart LightWave.
  69.  
  70. After this, the plugins, including the HIIP AVI and NT_AVI savers, should be
  71. available and working.

  73. There is a bug in the MicroSoft AVI codecs such that you can appear to have
  74. rendered a blank AVI.  If you load the file in MediaPlayer and scrub the AVI
  75. you will find that, while blank sections may have been appended to the
  76. beginning and the end of the AVI, the AVI has actually rendered
  77. successfully.

  79. Windows 95 users who wish to use the PowerView OpenGL plugin need to get the
  80. windows 95 OpenGL.DLL.  The file is available on Compuserve, Go GraphDev,
  81. search by the filename OPENGL95.ZIP, or by "Windows 95".  The file may be
  82. available at other locations on the Net as well.

  84. When saving an AVI, you must type in a complete filename in the filename
  85. requester, including the extension ".avi", or no file will be saved.
  86.  
  87. We do have a known bug in the handling of the scene file parameter for the
  88. animation type, which is what you are experiencing in item 2.  The
  89. workaround is to edit the scene file in a text editor.  Look for the line:
  90. AnimationType 4(the number will vary depending on what you selected for type) 
  91. and either remove the line or change the number to 0.
  92.  
  93. Another workaround is never to save the scene with an animation type
  94. selected; always wait and selected that at render time.
  95.  
  96. The product team has reported that this is fixed in 5.0.
